Join the Virginia Cooperative Extension - Loudoun Master Gardeners Thursday, April 1, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. for a virtual lecture: "Why Save Seeds?"

Why save seeds? People save seeds for many different reasons: save money, share with friends, preserve an heirloom, and more. Preservation of seeds is one of the foundations of sustainable food production. You can also save seeds from many flowering perennials. Learn the basics of why and how to harvest, clean, store, and plant seeds for your own garden. In addition to watching this lecture, you can pick up a special take & make kit at Rust Library starting April 1, featuring more information and a mix of heirloom and open pollinated seeds, while supplies last. VCE Loudoun is proud to partner with the Loudoun County Libraries for this event.

Normalee Martin is a VCE Loudoun County Master Gardener from the class of 2008. Volunteering as Team Co-Lead of the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden at Ida Lee Park, Leesburg, since 2010, she will share her great knowledge in the science of saving seeds.

For more information on this lecture, see: Seed Saving Flyer (PDF).
