[ARCHIVED] Loudoun County Law Enforcement Partner with DEA for Nationwide Prescription Take-Back Day

Loudoun County, VA – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Leesburg Police Department, Town of the Middleburg Police Department, and the Town of Purcellville Police Department have once again partnered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in the “Take-Back” initiative that seeks to prevent increased pill abuse and theft. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Loudoun County residents can discard potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at seven sites in the county:

Ashburn Station -20272 Savin Hill Drive, Ashburn, VA 

Dulles South Public Safety Center- 25216 Loudoun County Parkway, South Riding, VA 

Eastern Loudoun Sheriff’s Station- 46620 East Frederick Drive, Sterling, VA 

Western Loudoun Station- 47 W. Loudoun Street, Round Hill, VA

Town of Leesburg Police Department- Wegmans, 101 Crosstrail Boulevard, SE, Leesburg

Town of Middleburg Police Department-10 W. Marshall Street, Middleburg, VA (Middleburg Town Hall)

Town of Purcellville Police Department- 125 Hirst Road, Suite 7-A Purcellville, VA  

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Prescription medications, Over-The-Counter Medications, Medical Samples, Pet Medications, Vape Pens/E-Cigarettes (battery must be removed).

NON-ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Needles, Epi Pens, Thermometers, Batteries, IV Bags, Blood or Infectious Waste, Liquids, Gels or Sprays.

Since the inception of the DEA take-back program in 2010, over 15,000 pounds of unwanted and unused prescription medications have been collected in Loudoun County.
