Loudoun County, VA (April 30, 2021) – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System announced today that the 33rd Annual McGruff Safety Camps will be held in-person June 24 – July 1, July 12– July 15, and July 19 – July 22 at Evergreen Mill Elementary School in Leesburg, VA. A virtual camp will also be available the week of July 19 – July 22.
Due to popular demand, the camp continues to offer morning and afternoon sessions. All camps run Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. The camps will follow all Virginia and CDC guidelines.
The camps began the summer of 1988 and have continued every year through a joint effort between the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System. The camps allow children who are entering kindergarten and first grade to learn about various topics on safety including fire safety, bicycle safety, and 9-1-1 emergencies. Throughout the week, children in the camp have the opportunity to meet law enforcement officers, firefighters, K-9 officers, plus a chance to see law enforcement and fire/rescue vehicles firsthand.
Applications for the 33rd Annual McGruff Safety Camps will be made available on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 9 a.m. The applications will be available online here.
