Loudoun County voters will go to the polls Tuesday, November 2, 2021, for a general election. Here are six important things Loudoun County election officials would like voters to know before heading to the polls:
1. Know When to Vote
- Polls in Loudoun County will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 2. 2021.
- Early voting continues in Loudoun through Saturday, October 30. Locations and hours for early voting are online at loudoun.gov/voteearly.
- Absentee ballots may be dropped off at more than one dozen locations in Loudoun through October 30. If returned by mail, ballots must be postmarked no later than November 2. Voters may also drop off their ballots at the Office of Elections and Voter Registration (750 Miller Dr., SE, Leesburg) or any polling place up to 7:00 p.m. on November 2.
- Note: Voters who have requested and received an absentee ballot by mail, but who then change their mind and want to vote in person, must bring the ballot with them to the polling place. This will likely also cause a longer-than-normal wait time for the voter because of the process involved in surrendering the ballot.
2. Know Where to Vote
Most voters will cast their ballots at their normal polling location. There are changes for three precincts:
- Precinct 506 – Brandon Park will vote at Frederick Douglass Elementary School, 510 Principal Drummond Way SE, Leesburg.
- Precinct 118 – Moorefield will vote at Briar Woods High School, 22525 Belmont Ridge Road, Ashburn.
- Precinct 819 – Heritage Church will vote at Broad Run High School, 21670 Ashburn Road, Ashburn.
Anyone who is not sure about where to vote may check their voter registration card or look up their polling place and related information online at vote.elections.virginia.gov. A list of polling places in Loudoun is available at loudoun.gov/polls.
Also, curbside voting is available at all polling places for individuals who have mobility issues.
3. Bring Identification and a Face Covering
Voters will be asked to show an acceptable form of identification, such as a Virginia DMV-issued driver’s license. Voters who do not have an acceptable form of ID can sign an ID statement affirming their identity and they will be able to vote a regular ballot.
Due to the COVID-10 pandemic, voters are required to wear a face covering when entering a polling place.
4. Know Who is on the Ballot
Offices on the November 2 ballot include governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, mayor and town council in Middleburg and Round Hill and a town council seat in Purcellville. Three county government bond questions will also be on the ballot. Sample ballots are online at loudoun.gov/novemberelection.
5. Know Who Can Vote
All registered voters in Loudoun County are eligible to vote in the general election.
