[ARCHIVED] VCE Loudoun Master Gardeners Virtual Lecture Set for December 9, 2021

Join the VCE Loudoun Master Gardeners on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. for the virtual lecture: "Colonial Williamsburg's Christmas Decorations" with Laura Viancour, Horticulture Education Manager, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.  Learn about the history of Colonial Williamsburg's Christmas decorations and the magic that goes on behind the scenes to create the Historic Area's iconic natural arrangements.  The assortment of materials used and tips on assembling the arrangements will be shared while looking at a variety of decorations that have adorned the buildings.

Shortly after receiving a B.S. in horticulture from Virginia Tech, Laura began her career at Colonial Williamsburg in 1982.  Originally hired as a Gardener, Laura served as a Landscape Supervisor before becoming the Manager of Garden Programs, a new position she created in 1997 to enhance the interpretation of Colonial Williamsburg’s gardens.   Promoted to Landscape Director in 2012, Laura was responsible for the overall management of the Foundation’s gardens and grounds, which included the Historic Area and Colonial Williamsburg’s Business, Hotel and Museum Properties.  After 39 years of service, Laura retired as landscape director in February 2021.  Laura recently began working part-time in a new position created to promote Colonial Williamsburg’s gardens and train staff.

This event is hosted by Rust Library in partnership with the Loudoun County Public Library.
