01/21/22- UPDATE- Second Man Charged in Connection with December 30 Homicide in Ashburn

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 

 Loudoun County, Virginia (January 21, 2022) –A second man has been charged in connection with the December 30, 2021, homicide of 57-year-old Najat Chemlali Goode. 

Abdul Waheed, 54, of Leesburg, was arrested today and charged with Accessory Before the Fact to First-Degree Murder and Accessory After the Fact to First-Degree Murder after the investigation revealed he drove the suspect, Furqan Syed, 40, to and from the victim’s home on the night of the homicide. 

Furqan Syed fled the country on January 3, 2022, and detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office are coordinating with the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) and the U.S. Marshals Service to apprehend Syed on charges of First-Degree Murder, Entering a Residence with Intent to Commit Murder, Shooting in the Commission of Murder, and three counts of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony. 

The investigation has determined there was a connection between the suspects and the victim.

Waheed is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond. 

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were initially called to the home in the 23200 block of Connie Marie Terrace in the Ashburn area shortly before 8:30 p.m. on December 30, where a family member found the victim unresponsive inside the residence. The victim was taken to StoneSprings Hospital Center where she died from her injuries.

Loudoun County, Virginia (January 12, 2022) –A Leesburg man who fled overseas is facing charges in connection with the December 30, 2021, homicide of 57-year-old Najat Chemlali Goode. 

During the course of the investigation, Detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Furqan Syed, 40, of Leesburg, and determined there was a connection between the suspect and victim. 

The suspect left the country on January 3, 2022, and detectives last week obtained warrants for his arrest on charges of First-Degree Murder, Entering a Residence with Intent to Commit Murder, Shooting in the Commission of Murder, and three counts of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony. 

Detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office are coordinating with the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) and the U.S. Marshals Service to apprehend Syed.

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were initially called to the home in the 23200 block of Connie Marie Terrace in the Ashburn area shortly before 8:30 p.m. on December 30, where a family member found the victim unresponsive inside the residence. Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were called to the home in the 23200 block of Connie Marie Terrace shortly before 8:30 p.m. where a family member found the victim unresponsive inside the residence.  The victim was taken to Stone Springs Hospital Center where she died from her injuries.

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were called to the home in the 23200 block of Connie Marie Terrace in the Ashburn area shortly before 8:30 p.m. on December 30 where a family member found the victim unresponsive inside the residence. The victim was taken to StoneSprings Hospital Center where she died from her injuries. 

The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Najat Chemlali Goode.

The investigation is being conducted in coordination with detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.  

Residents in the area can expect a continued law enforcement presence as the investigation continues.

This case remains an active investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
