Loudoun County, in partnership with the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA), invites members of the public to attend a “pardon our dust” meeting and a ceremonial groundbreaking for the county’s project to reconstruct and widen Belmont Ridge Road from Truro Parish Drive to Croson Lane.

The public is invited to participate in each event. The details are as follows:

  • Pardon Our Dust: A virtual “pardon our dust” meeting is scheduled Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., via Webex. At this meeting, the public will receive a broad overview of the project timeline and learn about the stages of construction. Information on how to access the meeting and to sign up to speak is available on the project webpage and at loudoun.gov/remoteparticipation. Speakers must sign up in advance to speak during the event no later than12:00 p.m., January 19, 2022.

  • Groundbreaking: A groundbreaking ceremony for the start of construction is scheduled for Thursday, January 27, 2022, 11:45 a.m. at Edgar Tillet Memorial Park, 21561 Belmont Ridge Rd, Ashburn. Members of the Board of Supervisors and the NVTA as well as representatives of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are scheduled to be on hand for the ceremonial breaking of ground.

This project reconstructs and widens Belmont Ridge Road between Truro Parish Drive and Croson Lane from the existing two-lane rural road to a modern four-lane, median-divided, suburban roadway, with shared-use paths for pedestrians and bicyclists on each side. Project benefits include alleviating traffic in the corridor, providing active transportation solutions, and connecting commuters to major activity and employment centers.

Funding for this regionally significant project is from Loudoun County, NVTA and the state’s Revenue Sharing Program administered by VDOT. Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2024.

More information, including a link to sign up for updates on the project, can be found at loudoun.gov/belmontridgeimprovements.
