Loudoun County is seeking public comments on a revised draft plan for reducing pollutants entering the Chesapeake Bay.
The updated “Phase II Chesapeake Bay TMDL Action Plan” outlines ways that the county intends to meet requirements for reducing the quantity of pollutants entering the Chesapeake Bay via the county’s municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4). The county operates the MS4 under a permit from the state of Virginia and the permit requires the development and implementation of action plans for impaired waterways. TMDL refers to the allowed “Total Maximum Daily Load” of the pollutants allowed to enter a water body without violating water quality standards.
The revised plan provides an update on the actions that the county has achieved to date and outlines projects that are planned for the future.
The updated draft plan is posted online at loudoun.gov/stormwater. The deadline to submit comments on the plan is Friday, February 18, 2022. Comments can be directed to the Stormwater Management Program by email or by phone at 703-777-0117.
