The road used to access the Ashburn Metrorail Station has been renamed from Loudoun Station Drive to Ashburn Metro Drive. The Board of Supervisors approved the name change in April and the change was effective May 19, 2022.
New road signs have been installed and letters have been mailed to owners of the affected parcels to notify them of the name change.
The name change was made to provide clarity for drivers, pedestrians and public safety personnel as to which road accesses the Ashburn Metro Station. The Loudoun Station Drive name presented confusion because of its similarity to the name of the Metrorail station located two miles away — the Loudoun Gateway Station, on Lockridge Road.
