Virginia Cooperative Extension - Loudoun (VCE Loudoun), along with its partners, will host an Agricultural Technology Field Day Wednesday, November 16, 2022, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Middleburg Agricultural Research & Extension (MARE) Center, 5527 Sullivans Mill Road in Middleburg.

People of all ages who are interested in agriculture are invited to attend the free event. The field day will feature information about off-the-shelf digital tools apps and other services that help horse owners, livestock producers and row crop farmers complete everyday farm tasks and improve ongoing farm operations. Attendees can speak with technology industry representatives, extension agents, university faculty and administrators, and local farm/stable owners.

Those planning to attend the event are encouraged to sign up for event reminders at loudoun.gov/agtechfieldday.

VCE Loudoun is collaborating with Virginia Tech’s College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, Virginia Agriculture Experiment Station, Center for Advanced Innovation in Agriculture, Commonwealth Cyber Initiative Southwest Virginia, Loudoun County Department of Economic Development, and VCE Fauquier to host the event.

“The MARE Center is a tremendous educational resource in Loudoun’s backyard,” said VCE Loudoun Extension Agent Jim Hilleary. “The center is great for Loudoun because it brings together multiple partners and agencies to develop and host no-fee and low-fee agriculturally-focused classes for the county’s youth and adults, such as the Ag-Tech Field Day.”

As one of the eleven Agricultural Research and Extension Centers in Virginia, the MARE Center collaborates with academic and industry partners around the world to conduct leading-edge research in the animal sciences. The MARE Center specializes in equine nutrition and exercise physiology, equine health and disease, animal behavior and psychology, ecosystem management, & biodevice design. Throughout the year, the MARE Center offers a variety of programs on animal sciences and farming operations to the public.

Anyone who requires a reasonable accommodation for any type of disability or needs language assistance to participate in this activity, may contact VCE Loudoun at 703-777-0373/TDD 800-828-1120 during business hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Five business days’ notice is requested.
