Eleven Graduate Fire and Rescue Officer Development School

Loudoun County Fire and Rescue (LCFR) is proud to announce the graduation of 11 fire and rescue personnel from the 8th annual LCFR Officer Development School. These senior firefighters and technicians attended the comprehensive, two-week program at the Oliver Robert Dubé Fire & Rescue Training Academy in Leesburg, in preparation for their impending promotion to Officer.

Members of LCFR’s senior staff worked alongside seasoned company officers to design the program for newly promoted officers; the curriculum focused on both leadership and management. This intensive, hands-on, training program focused on developing all aspects of a company officer’s role through a combination of lectures and practical exercises. Graduates refined their ability to lead and manage their staff and learn effective methods to mentor, cultivate, and grow our department’s personnel. The program utilized various internal instructors, as well as presenters from outside agencies to deliver dynamic presentations and conduct realistic exercises.

A graduation ceremony on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, culminated the completion of the immersive training program. Chief of the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System, Keith H. Johnson, praised the hard work and commitment of the graduates as they were presented with their certificates. Assistant Chief of Operations, James Williams and County Administrator Tim Hemstreet offered guidance on the qualities of successful leaders and the challenges they will face transitioning to this next chapter in their careers.

Congratulations to Firefighter II Michael Hott, Technician Andrew Wachter, Firefighter John Krushat, Technician Rob Boyer, Technician Andrew Jenkins, Firefighter II Jacob Keck, Firefighter Anthony Smothers, Technician William Burke, Technician Candace Jones, Lieutenant Justin Brabson, Firefighter II Joe Santivasci!
