Spotlight on Loudoun County Veterans' Employment Services
Interview with Tom Grant, Veterans Services Coordinator, Loudoun County
Beside the Loudoun Workforce Resource Center, what are some other veterans’ employment services and how do I access them?
There are federal and state employment resources available to support veterans. Federal resources are generally accessible through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In Virginia, state resources are accessible through the Virginia Department of Veterans Services (also via phone at 703-995-9998) and the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC).
Who is eligible to access veteran employment resources? Each program (federal, state and local) has different eligibility requirements to access employment resources. Generally at the federal level, any person who has served honorably in the active U.S. military services, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard or Space Force, is eligible. The state and local level employment resource programs generally add any person who has served in the National Guard or Reserves to their eligibility criteria. It is recommended you contact the specific program for further eligibility details.
What other services and resources should veterans in Loudoun County be aware of? Locally, Loudoun County has led the way in supporting Loudoun Veterans and families through the establishment in 2017 of a full time dedicated Loudoun County Veterans Services Coordinator, Tom Grant. Tom should be any Loudoun veteran's first stop to get more information. Tom can be reached via telephone at 571-258-3815 or email at thomas.grant@loudoun.gov.
