On December 13, 2023, the Board of Supervisors adopted the Loudoun County Zoning Ordinance, which replaces the previous Revised 1993 Zoning Ordinance. The effective date of the new Zoning Ordinance is December 13, 2023.
All property in the county is now administered under the new Zoning Ordinance, subject to any vested or other statutory rights, with the following exceptions:
The Zoning Ordinance regulates land use throughout the county and is the primary implementation tool for the Loudoun County 2019 Comprehensive Plan, a policy document that provides guidance for governmental decision-makers regarding where and how the community will grow over many years.
The format of the new Zoning Ordinance will ultimately be an online interactive platform, enCodePlus. The launch of that platform is planned for early 2024.
Past zoning ordinances (1993, 1972, etc.) in Loudoun County are online for historical reference.
