Illegal Sign Removal Program

The Loudoun County Zoning Administration Division assists the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) with removal of illegally-placed signs from within the Commonwealth of Virginia's rights-of-way. This program focuses on rights-of-way and is not associated with signs placed on parcels (private property) within the County as those signs are regulated by the Zoning Ordinance. The Code of Virginia prohibits advertising within the limit of any highway, which includes the roadway, shoulders, and median strips.

Businesses and individuals that routinely place illegal signs in rights-of-way could be subject to actions through the court to prevent their continued placement of illegal signs.
