1. I am interested in becoming a career or volunteer member of the Loudoun County Fire-Rescue family. What opportunities are available?

For career opportunities, the Loudoun County Government strongly encourages qualified women, minorities, and people of diverse backgrounds interested in employment with the county to apply. The Loudoun County government has an automated online job application system.

If you are interested in volunteer opportunities, Loudoun County has 22 volunteer Fire and Rescue companies that run out of 19 stations. As a combination system, we have approximately 1,600 volunteers and approximately 450 career staff who work together to protect the life and property of Loudoun County and surrounding jurisdictions residents. Our operational members are professionally trained and achieve certifications in Emergency Medical Services, Firefighting, Hazardous Material Response Team, and Emergency Vehicle Operations. Volunteer training routinely occurs in the evenings and weekends to accommodate our volunteers. Trainings are conducted at the stations and at the county's training facility in Leesburg. Some of the training is physically demanding and requires dedication and a significant time commitment to complete the necessary training. In addition to typical fire and rescue positions, we also need volunteers behind the scenes for administrative tasks and duties such as public relations, web design, event planning, and more. 2. Why should I install smoke alarms in my home?

In the United States, 80% of all civilian fire deaths result from home structure fires. In most cases, a working smoke alarm could have saved these lives. Smoke alarms are one of the best and easiest safety features you can use to protect yourself, your family and your home. So go ahead, "Put A Finger On I!" and follow these safety tips.
