New Employee Required Actions
Welcome
There are a number of actions you are required to take in the first week of employment. Below is a checklist to help you keep track of the information, training and policies you must review.
Complete Payroll and Tax Forms
- Direct deposit of your Loudoun County paycheck is required. You must complete your tax forms and direct deposit authorization via myLoudoun in Oracle Self-Service, which is the county’s online centralized portal for employee payroll, benefits and other human resources information. This information must be completed before you can receive your first paycheck.
- Please allow 3-5 business days from your first day of employment for your record and user account to be established in Oracle/myLoudoun.

Meet with Your Supervisor
Meet with your supervisor to discuss your role and your responsibilities in your department. You should receive a copy of your Performance Plan/Job Description.
Register for Employee Alerts
The email addresses of all Loudoun County employees have been entered into the Employee Alerts system. You will automatically receive emails through the system during emergencies and when there is a change in the county's operational status. You may add a mobile phone number to your Employee Alerts profile to receive text messages.
Complete Online Learning
- Loudoun eLearns: As a new hire, you will receive an email notification from the Loudoun eLearns platform with an invitation to complete required elearning videos on Workplace Safety and Human Resources policy and law. You will have 90 days to complete this training from the date of your hire.
- KnowBe4: New county employees will receive a welcome email from KnowBe4 when enrolled in cybersecurity awareness and compliance training. The welcome email will provide details about the training, a link to the training site, instructions on how to access the training, and the completion due date.
Enroll in Employee Benefits
As a new employee of Loudoun County Government you may be eligible for various benefits. You will want to make sure to consider your options for enrolling in these benefits. Please note that there are specific deadlines that your online enrollment must be completed and/or paperwork received for each benefit. If you miss the deadline, you may have to wait until the next open enrollment period or complete Evidence of lnsurability questionnaires which are subject to medical underwriting approval. Your enrollment into the Virginia Retirement System (VRS), basic life insurance and limited term disability is automatic and handled by the Department of Human Resources Benefits Division.

Long-term Disability Buy-up (VRS Plan 1 & 2 members only) - Eligible employees are auto-enrolled in core disability coverage. LTD Buy-up is available for purchase. Elect coverage through myloudoun Employee Self-Service. | 31 days from date of hire.
