Permit Applications are Processed in Order Received (see more details)

To fairly assist all customers, Building and Development is systematically processing permits in date order with a focus on occupancy and health and safety related matters and then by permit type. The differences you see across the dates below are reflective of the following factors:
- The number of permits in the backlog in that category,
- The time it takes to process that specific permit type,
- The number of staff with the appropriate expertise who are assigned to that category.

After intake on your permit is complete, fees have been paid, and your permit moves into review, review times are generally as follows:
• New Commercial: 4 weeks
• New Residential: 4 weeks
• Commercial Alternation: 3 weeks
• Trades (new/alterations): 2 weeks
• Fire: 4 weeks

Zoning Permits is currently experiencing significant staffing issues (unrelated to LandMARC) due to promotions, retirements, and other unforeseen circumstances. We are working on backfilling these positions and onboarding temporary staff as quickly as possible. In the meantime, zoning permits review will be significantly delayed until our new staff is trained. The most efficient way to determine the status of your permit is to submit a permit status inquiry form. We appreciate your patience as we work through this latest challenge and hope to be back to normal review times as soon as possible.
