The Loudoun County Joint Architectural Review Board is soliciting nominations for its Community Blue Ribbon Award, which recognizes preservation or restoration projects in Loudoun County.
The project must be physically located in Loudoun County (including in the incorporated towns of Hamilton, Hillsboro, Leesburg, Lovettsville, Middleburg, Purcellville or Round Hill) and construction must be completed by the time the nomination is submitted for consideration. Past winners are not eligible for a second award but projects that were nominated and did not win may be nominated again.
Projects must exemplify the preservation of a historic resource, landscape or significant cultural resource. An eligible project might consist of a sympathetic addition to an historic building, a restoration or rehabilitation project, an adaptive reuse of an historic building, the preservation of a significant archeological site, or some other project which otherwise protects or enhances one of Loudoun County’s historic or cultural resources.
Deadline: 5:00 p.m., July 28, 2023. Winners will be notified prior to the awards ceremony scheduled for September 2023.
If possible, provide photographs of the project which clearly demonstrate the preservation efforts involved. If you are not the property owner, please obtain permission from the owner before accessing the property to take any photographs.
All nomination materials will be retained by Loudoun County and will become the property of the Joint Architectural Review Board. Photos and other pertinent information may be reproduced at the discretion of the Joint Architectural Review Board.
Representatives of the Loudoun County Historic District Review Committee serve on the Joint Architectural Review Board along with representatives of the architectural review boards in Leesburg, Middleburg and Purcellville.
