About the Department

The Department of Community Corrections offers the judiciary a variety of programs for adults involved in the criminal justice system. These programs help conserve jail space in the Adult Detention Center for high-risk offenders while allowing lower-risk offenders to maintain their jobs, support their families, and provide restitution to the crime victims and to the community. Offenders can receive:

  • Referrals for substance abuse assessment, education, and group counseling
  • Assistance connecting with Mental Health Services
  • Referrals for Anger Management and Domestic Violence group counseling
  • Monitoring of other special conditions ordered by the Court

Pretrial Division

Loudoun County’s Pretrial Division reduces jail overcrowding by providing community supervision of adult defendants as they await trial. Pretrial officers conduct a pretrial investigation, gathering and verifying important information about each incarcerated defendant and the defendant’s suitability for Pretrial release. The officers then prepare a report that assists the court in making informed release or detention decisions. When a defendant is granted release on bond, the court may ask for Pretrial officers to supervise them in the community in order to ensure their compliance with court-ordered conditions of release. Pretrial can supervise both misdemeanor and felony cases, as a condition of bond. For more information, call 703-777-0107.

Probation Division

Loudoun County’s Probation Division provides court-ordered supervision and services for adult offenders who are typically convicted of class 1 & 2 misdemeanors and class 5 & 6 felonies. Cases are referred from Loudoun County General District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court, and Circuit Court. During supervision, offenders are subject to routine office contacts, random substance abuse screening, and behavior monitoring. Supervision is transferable within the Commonwealth of Virginia. For more information, call 703-777-0207.
