RISE Youth Shelter

The RISE (Reaching for Insight, Success, and Empowerment) Youth Shelter provides short-term residential placement for court-involved Loudoun youth ages 11-17. Youth may be court ordered or placed by parental/guardian agreement upon referral by a JCSU Probation Officer. Youth pending or adjudicated for serious violent felonies are ineligible for RISE Shelter placement. Gang-involved youth and youth pending or adjudicated for sex offenses will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Youth under age 13 will be carefully considered before placement.

Individualized Service Plans

The RISE Shelter will provide a safe, structured, and supportive environment for youth. An individualized service plan will be developed for each youth; the plan will identify the youth’s needs, strengths, and goals for the period they are residing at the RISE Shelter. A youth’s maximum length of stay is 90 days.

Programs and Activities

While at the RISE Shelter, each youth will participate in the behavior management program, routine Shelter-based activities, and community-based activities. Youth will be offered opportunities to build skills through group and individual activities, including recreation, social skills groups, pro-social outings, community service, life-skills activities and workshops, and information sessions.
