[ARCHIVED] County Offers Training on Community Data Gathering

Loudoun County is offering two upcoming trainings for nonprofit organizations on how to utilize data from the U.S. Census Bureau in their grant writing. Census Data Dissemination Specialist Stacie Cochran-McNeal will facilitate the sessions. These interactive presentations are designed to provide nonprofits with a framework to find data about their community.  

The two virtual trainings will be conducted through Microsoft Teams: 

  • Community Data Gathering: Census Tools: Thursday, October 19, 2023, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m
    • Learn about U.S. Census Bureau basics and how to use census tools to bolster your grant applications. Stacie Cochran-McNeal will give an in-depth presentation of Quick Facts and Narrative Profiles. Register here.
  • Community Data Gathering: Exploring Census Data: Tuesday, October 24, 2023, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  
    • Learn how to utilize the census data portal, data.census.gov, to describe your community. Walk through interactive exercises to examine data specific to Loudoun County and your service population to describe community need. Register here.

These trainings are offered by the Loudoun County Department of Finance and Procurement as part of the county’s efforts to help nonprofits diversify their funding and leverage more resources in the community. These trainings are designed to highlight resources and best practices from peer organizations and provide hands-on technical assistance to participants.
