Loudoun Treasurer Eickelberg Encourages Residents to Voice Opposition to Greenway Toll Hikes

Loudoun County Treasurer Henry C. Eickelberg issued the following statement strongly encouraging Loudoun residents to appear at tonight’s (January 9, 2024) Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) public hearing on proposed Dulles Greenway toll rate increases.

“Toll Road Investors Partnership II (TRIP II), the owner and operator of the Greenway, is requesting the SCC approve huge toll increases. Virginians currently pay $5.80 during peak traffic hours and $5.25 during off peak hours for a standard 2-axle vehicle. TRIP II wants to raise those rates to $8.10 during peak traffic hours and $6.40 during off-peak hours. Fair is fair but pushing up peak traffic hour tolls from $5.80 to $8.10 (one-way) and off-peak tolls from $5.25 to $6.40 doesn’t cut it.” said Loudoun Treasurer Eickelberg.  “Every Loudoun citizen needs to show up at tonight’s SCC meeting and tell them that these proposed increases aren’t needed and aren’t fair. I will be there to do just that and I’m asking every Loudoun resident to join me.”

The local public hearing is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the Freedom High School auditorium, 25450 Riding Center Drive, in South Riding. Persons intending to testify as public witnesses should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the meeting and register with the SCC’s bailiff.
