[ARCHIVED] Elder Abuse Awareness Day - June 16

Did you know that as many as one in ten older adults and one in two older adults with dementia are victims of elder abuse? Every year, American elders lose an estimated $2.9 billion as a result of financial exploitation. The Loudoun County Area Agency on Agency will be observing World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Monday, June 16. If you suspect that an older adult is being abused, neglected, or exploited, you can make a confidential report to the Virginia Abuse and Neglect State Hotline by calling 1-888-832-3858. You may also call 911 or your local Adult Protective Services unit. For more information, or to join our efforts to prevent elder abuse and neglect, please call 703-777-0257.
