2024 Arbor Day Photo Contest

The theme of this year’s contest is “My Favorite Tree.” Entries are being accepted through April 15, 2024, in advance of this year’s in-person Loudoun County Arbor Day Celebration. 

Contest Rules

  • Entries must be a photo of a single tree or group of trees that are in Loudoun County,
  • The photos must have been taken by the entrant. There is a limit of two entries per person. 
  • Only digital pictures will be accepted. JPEGs are acceptable. High resolution photos are encouraged. 
  • Submit photos through this online form.

Awards will be distributed to the top three photos. Only the winners and those receiving honorable mention will be notified.  Winning photos and honorable mentions will be announced at the in-person Loudoun County Arbor Day Celebration scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Middleburg Agricultural Research and Extension Center, 5527 Sullivans Mill Road in Middleburg.

Photos will not be returned and will become the property of the Loudoun County Arbor Day Committee.

Trees in Loudoun County

Loudoun County has valuable forest resources, providing many benefits. Working forests in rural portions of the county contain valuable stands of hardwood timber sustainable source of valuable wood products. Trees and urban forest resources in more urban portions of the county help to make them attractive places in which to live, work, and visit.

County Arborist / Urban Forester

The Loudoun County Arborist / Urban Forester serves as a resource to the county for forestry or tree-related issues, in order to protect and enhance these resources for the general health, safety, and well-being of the community.

Review of tree conservation plans and forest management plans, field visits, complaint response, technical assistance, community education and outreach, and mapping and monitoring of forest resources are all covered by this program.

This position also monitors major threats to trees and forests such as insect outbreaks, diseases, severe weather, and wildfires.
