Military Discharge DD-214

Recordation of Discharge or Separation Military Records

The Loudoun County Clerk of the Circuit Court will record, free of charge, the original or properly authenticated copy of either the discharge certificate or the report of separation from active duty (Department of Defense Document DD-214) for the residents of Loudoun County discharged from the armed forces of the United States (Virginia Code §17.1-265).

Copies of military service records can be obtained through National Archives by veterans and their eligible relatives.

The Clerk of the Circuit Court will be able to issue certified copies only for the documents previously recorded with this office, for a fee of $.50 per page and $2 per certification. Disclosure of military records by this office is subject to provisions of Virginia Code §17.1-265 regarding persons eligible to view the records.
