Loudoun County government cannot regulate airplane noise or control flight paths; however, the county can regulate how land around the airport is developed. The Board of Supervisors adopted an Airport Impact Overlay District (AIOD) to ensure future development on land near the airport considers the impact of airport noise. Loudoun County also continues to work within its purview with stakeholders to address ongoing concerns about airport noise in the community.
