Fatherhood Engagement Services

Overview

Fatherhood Engagement Services strengthen families by effectively engaging fathers and involving them in decision making and service planning for their children. The services are based on programs from the National Fatherhood Initiative® that cover the key concepts of self-awareness, self-care, fathering and parenting skills, and relationship skills. The Fatherhood Engagement Services team also provides case management support to all fathers participating in these programs.

24/7Dad®

The 24/7 Dad® program is the flagship curriculum of the National Fatherhood Initiative®. The 24/7 Dad® program is a 12-week curriculum. Participants meet as a group, once a week, for 12 weeks. Each meeting is two hours in duration. Weekly topics include men’s health, communication, discipline, getting involved, working with mom, co-parenting, dads and work life balance, and children’s growth and development.

Session Dates & How to Register

Fatherhood Engagement Services offers a few virtual sessions of the 24/7 Dad® program per year. Meetings are held once a week in the evening hours. Register early, space is limited.

Fathering in 15™

Fathering in 15™ takes dads through 15 topics on parenting with the guidance and support of a peer mentor, in a one-on-one setting. Dads meet with a peer mentor once a week, typically for 15 weeks. Each session lasts one hour, including 30 minutes to discuss the topic, and 30 minutes discussing its real-life application. Fathering in 15™ can be completed virtually, or in person. Weekly topics include handling emotions, talking with mom, child discipline, managing money, work life balance, co-parenting, men’s health, and child development.

Fatherhood Engagement Services offers Fathering in 15™ for interested dads throughout the year. Register at bit.ly/loudounfathers.
