Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve

Banshee Reeks is a Nature Preserve, which ensures that all of the plants, animals, habitats and cultural resources are protected. 

  • Family-friendly hiking: explore our 20 miles of trails on 695 acres.
  • Catch and release fishing pond: Virginia state fishing license required for anglers 16 and older. Ages 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult with a Virginia state fishing license. 
  • Bikes and horses prohibited

Volunteer Opportunities

  • The third Saturday of each month is a Volunteer Day at Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve. 
  • No registration is required. 
  • Help us by:
    • Designing kiosk displays
    • Invasive plant removal
    • Maintenance of the pollinator garden and rain garden
    • Native plant restoration
    • Trail improvements

Dogs in Parks

Dogs are generally allowed in parks while on a physical leash and under the control of the owner, according to Chapter 612.13 of the Loudoun County Codified Ordinances; however, per Chapter 1092.21, there are certain areas within parks that dogs are prohibited. Please see the ordinance language for both 612.13 and 1092.21 for more details.
