Volunteering with the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System

Currently, there are over a million firefighters in the United States.  According to the National Volunteer Fire Council, 70% of those firefighters are volunteers. These volunteers save our country an estimated $138 billion with their donated time, based on a study done by the National Fire Protection Association.

Loudoun County is proud to have 15 Volunteer Companies that provide front line emergency services to the community and surrounding areas. Currently there are over 1, 200 volunteers and 600 career first responders in the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System! Close to 800 volunteers serve in an operational capacity as the remaining administrative volunteers provide the necessary “behind the scenes” duties to maintain station operations.

Our operational members are professionally trained and  have the ability to achieve certifications in the following areas at no cost:

  • Firefighting
  • Emergency Medical Services
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations
