Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is hosting pop-up passport fairs throughout the county to help international travelers apply for new passports.

Trained staff from LCPL’s Passport Office, which has operated at Rust Library in Leesburg since October 2018, are making the rounds to library branches to take photos onsite, answer questions about the application process and file paperwork with the U.S. State Department. Applicants will be assisted on a first-come, first-served basis at the following pop-up fairs:

“For many people, getting to a post office during normal business hours to submit a passport application can be difficult,” said Sydney McCoy, branch manager of Rust Library. “We are thrilled to take our library Passport Office on the road to provide another option for prospective travelers.”

Applicants will need a completed Form DS-11 (available at Rust Library or at travel.state.gov), a check or money order for each application being submitted (State Department and library fees must be paid for separately), proof of identity (driver’s license, state ID card, military ID or previously issued passport) and proof of U.S. citizenship (official birth certificate, naturalization certificate or previously issued U.S passport). For a list of services and fees, visit library.loudoun.gov/passports

Expired passports cannot be renewed by the library. The U.S. State Department issues renewals for eligible passports by mail only. For more information, visit travel.state.gov.

The Passport Office at Rust Library, located at 380 Old Waterford Road NW in Leesburg, is open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Visit library.loudoun.gov/passports for more details.
