Loudoun County to Distribute American Rescue Plan Act Grants

Information about American Rescue Plan Act funding in Loudoun County

During its January 16, 2024, meeting, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors authorized the distribution of more than $1.6 million in grants from the county’s share of the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, which financially supports local communities as they address the negative impacts of COVID-19 and lay the foundation for recovery.  The Board approved grants for three separate programs: Child Care Fee Reduction, Community Support Services and Tourism.

Child Care Fee Reduction Nonprofit Grant Program

Following the Board’s direction for utilizing ARPA funds, the county accepted requests in October and November 2023 from nonprofit organizations to help create a child care supplementary reimbursement program to support families who are experiencing hardship as an ongoing result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Board allocated $1,000,000 to a nonprofit that serves Loudoun (PDF)

  • Northern Virginia Family Service - $1,000,000

In addition, Loudoun County is conducting a child care needs assessment to identify challenges working families have when placing their children in child care and for child care provider training.

Community Support Services Grant Program

Following the Board’s direction for utilizing ARPA funds, the county accepted requests in September and October 2023 from local organizations seeking funding to assist residents with other financial support and utility assistance. The Board allocated about $483,000 to two nonprofits that serve Loudoun (PDF)

  • Loudoun Cares - $241,666
  • Northern Virginia Family Service - $241,666

Tourism Grants

Following the Board’s direction for utilizing ARPA funds, the county accepted requests in September and October 2023 from local organizations seeking funding for events that draw visitors to Loudoun. The Board allocated $240,000 to 10 nonprofit organizations and town governments serving Loudoun County (PDF)

  • Stony Point Business Center - $17,020
  • Sweet Jazz Festival, LLC - $42,540

  • Town of Lovettsville - $22,970
  • Virginia Piedmont Heritage Area Association - $6,890
