Loudoun County invites members of the public to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the start of construction of the Braddock Road at the Summerall Drive/Supreme Drive Intersection Improvements project, on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. The event will take place along Braddock Road near the project site in Aldie.

Members of the Board of Supervisors and representatives of the Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure and Van Metre Homes at Braddock, L.L.C. will be on hand for the ceremonial breaking of ground, kicking off construction for this project.

This project provides for the installation of a traffic signal and turn lanes at the intersection of Braddock Road (Route 620) and Supreme Drive (Route 1257) and Summerall Drive (Route 1258). In addition, the 0.73-mile segment of Braddock Road near the intersection will be widened from two to four lanes and a shared-use path will be installed along the north side of Braddock Road from the end of the existing path at the Greenfield Crossing community to the existing path at the Braddock Corner community.

Loudoun County awarded the contract to construct the Braddock Road and Summerall Drive and Supreme Drive Intersection Improvements project to Van Metre Homes at Braddock, L.L.C. Van Metre’s proffered offsite improvements also include widening Braddock Road from two lanes to four lanes between Royal Hunter Drive and Gum Spring Road (Route 659).

Construction is currently estimated for completion in summer 2024.

More information, including a link to sign up for updates on the project, can be found on the Loudoun County website at loudoun.gov/braddockroad.
