Beginning Tuesday, June 20, 2023, Loudoun County is scheduled to perform traffic signal construction at the intersection of Algonkian Parkway and Lowes Island Boulevard in Sterling. Work to activate new signal heads and remove old existing overhead equipment at all four quadrants of the intersection is currently scheduled to take place Tuesday, June 20, and Wednesday, June 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If inclement weather delays construction, plans call for work to continue each successive workday following June 20, until the work can be completed.
During work hours, intermittent traffic signal operation and lane closures are required for the safe removal and installation of overhead equipment. Drivers and pedestrians should use extra caution when traveling through these areas and follow all directions from the posted signs and police.
