The forecast of severe weather is prompting an early end to some Loudoun County summer camps, the cancellation of some sports activities and the cancellation of late afternoon and evening commuter bus service.
Parks, Recreation and Community Services Summer Camps & Sports Activities
Due to the forecast of severe weather and the decision by Loudoun County Public Schools to close its facilities at 3:30 p.m., all Loudoun County summer camps held by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services at LCPS buildings will end early Monday, August 7, 2023. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Loudoun County and the entire Washington D.C. metropolitan region until 9:00 p.m., Monday.
PRCS is notifying parents and guardians of the early dismissal.
In addition, PRCS-sponsored sports activities scheduled to take place at LCPS facilities this afternoon and evening are canceled.
Summer camps at PRCS facilities, such as community centers, are not affected.
Loudoun County Transit PM Commuter Bus Service
All Loudoun County Transit commuter bus service from Washington DC and Crystal City/the Pentagon scheduled for after 4:50 p.m. is canceled today, August 7, due to the potential for severe weather and in keeping with the Office of Personnel Management decision to release the federal workforce at 3:00 p.m. All buses scheduled before 4:30 p.m. will run on their normal schedules.
