Loudoun County Fire & Rescue Hosting Revolutionary Training Program for Firefighters

Fire Rescue O2X Training

As tactical athletes, firefighters face adverse weather conditions, unpredictable environments, and risk their lives daily to keep their communities safe. They consistently endure physical and mental stress for the duration of their time served. As a result, it is critical that they train properly not only to stay healthy, but also to optimize their human performance in any situation. Loudoun County Fire & Rescue is prioritizing the wellness, safety, and performance of its members by hosting a revolutionary training program led by O2X Human Performance, a Boston-based company started by former Navy SEALs.

Dealing with high-stress situations and traumatic events regularly, members of the Loudoun County Combined Fire & Rescue System have to be on the top of their game physically, mentally, and emotionally at all times. And, they must develop a resilient mindset so they can come back stronger day after day. The job-related health issues firefighters face include high injury rates, elevated cancer and cardiac health risks, poor sleep hygiene, and behavioral health issues associated with shift work and operating in high-stress environments. This is where O2X comes in - providing a comprehensive approach to performance that tackles every aspect from nutrition, conditioning, and yoga to sleep, stress management, and mindfulness.

Over the course of three months, members of the Loudoun County Combined Fire & Rescue System will undergo O2X’s comprehensive training program. During the workshop, firefighters and EMS providers will learn from O2X’s team of specialists that include U.S. Special Operations veterans, strength and conditioning specialists, yoga teachers, mental performance experts, PhDs in nutrition and psychology, and sleep scientists. “The public relies on our firefighters and EMS providers each and every day for their safety," said System Chief Keith Johnson. “They are no different than professional athletes, who must be on top of their game every shift.” The O2X program was designed and is proven to meet the unique demands of tactical athletes so they can finish their duty as strong as they started.

About O2X: O2X Human Performance provides comprehensive, science-backed training and education so tactical athletes can finish their careers as strong as they started. The results driven O2X EAT SWEAT THRIVE curriculum encompasses all areas of human performance: nutrition, conditioning, sleep, stress management, and resilience. The O2X team is comprised of U.S. Special Operations veterans, Olympic, professional, and All-American collegiate athletes, and 70+ human performance experts who teach the latest cutting-edge research in each of the primary fields of health and wellness.
