The Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office (LCFR-FMO) investigation determined Friday evening’s fire on Cameron Walk Place in Aldie was caused by a lightning strike.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023, fire and rescue units responded to a reported house fire in the 25,900 block of Cameron Walk Place. Loudoun County Fire and Rescue (LCFR) personnel from Kirkpatrick Farms, Dulles South, Brambleton, and Aldie responded, as well as several units from Prince William and Fairfax Counties.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-family home with visible smoke and fire from the roof and quickly worked to extinguish the fire. Once the visible fire was extinguished, crews advanced to the 2nd floor and attic, located smoke conditions and minor extension, and extinguished the interior fire. Firefighters remained on scene ventilating the structure and assisting the Fire Marshal’s Office.
The LCFR-FMO investigators have determined the fire was natural, resulting from a lightning strike to the residence, and estimated the damages at $120,000 for both the structure and contents. No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported. There were no residents displaced as the fire structure was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
