For Immediate Release:
Fatal House Fire in Lovettsville

Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s remain on scene investigating a fatal fire that claimed the life of a Lovettsville man Sunday night.
Just before 8:30 p.m., Sunday December 10th, the Loudoun County Emergency Communications Center received a call from an alarm company stating that they were contacted by a resident reporting their house was on fire and they were unable to escape.  Fire and rescue crews from Lovettsville, Purcellville, Hamilton, Round Hill, Lucketts, Leesburg, Loudoun Heights, Brambleton, Frederick County, MD and numerous Command Officers responded to the residence located in the 12000 block of Taylorstown Road in Lovettsville. When firefighters arrived at the two-story split level home they encountered active fire coming from the roof and several sides of the structure.
The advanced state of the fire caused the roof and several floors of the home to collapse, making entry for firefighters extremely hazardous. Command staff immediately requested a Rapid Intervention Team for additional personnel as well as a Tanker Task Force to bring additional water to the rural home.
Due to initial reports from neighbors, information received from the 9-1-1 caller, and failure to find the homeowner outside the residence, crews made several attempts to enter the home and search for any potential occupants. Firefighters were forced to retreat due to the advanced fire condition of the roof and multiple interior floors of the home.  A defensive fire attack was initiated from the exterior until such time the fire would allow for crews to re-enter the structure to complete the search.
While conducting their search, firefighters located a deceased person inside the home. As the incident remains an active fire investigation no details are available regarding the deceased or the official cause of death.  The Fire Marshal’s Office remains on scene, along with the Loudoun County Sherriff’s Office, conducting their investigation into the cause of the fire.
