For Immediate Release:
Saturday’s Early Morning Fire in Ashburn Ruled Arson; Officials Seeking Information

Ashburn, VA. – A house fire that destroyed an Ashburn home early Saturday morning has been ruled incendiary by the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office (FMO) and Officials are requesting anyone with information to come forward.
Just before 2:15 a.m. a.m., January 27th, the Loudoun County Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a 9-1-1 call from a citizen stating that a neighboring residence was on fire. Fire and rescue units from Moorefield, Dulles South, Ashburn, Kincora, Arcola, Sterling Park, and numerous Command Officers were dispatched to the home in the 42,000 block of Via Veneto Way in Ashburn.
Firefighters arrived to find a large, two-story, single family dwelling with heavy fire coming from the entire second floor and roof of the home. Additional resources were immediately requested bringing several more fire and rescue units to the scene. The advanced state of the fire was causing roofing materials to collapse into the second floor and the heat and flames were beginning to damage adjacent homes. For safety purposes, an exterior attack was initiated on the fire and hoselines were put in place to protect neighboring homes. The fire was extinguished using elevated master streams from Dulles South’s Tower 619 and Ashburn’s Truck 606 until under control and the stability of the structure confirmed. Although the incident commander was told by neighbors that the home was currently vacant, once safe to do so, firefighters were able to search the basement and first floor to confirm there were no occupants inside.
There were no injuries to any civilians or first responders during the incident. The structure is a total loss with damages estimated at just over $1,000,000. The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office is requesting anyone with information pertaining to this incident to call either their main office at 703-737-8600 or the anonymous Loudoun County Crime Solvers tip line at 703-777-1919.
