2019 Emergency Medical Services Community Open House Events

Each year National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to honor the dedication of those who provide day-to-day lifesaving services on medicine's "front line." This year EMS Week has been designated from May 19th - 25th, with the theme "EMS STRONG: Beyond the Call”. Throughout the month of May many of Loudoun County’s Fire and Rescue Companies will be hosting free, family friendly open house events to allow citizens of all ages the opportunity to engage with local EMS providers.

Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad, Saturday May 4th, 12:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m.

Looking for a fun, educational and FREE family-friendly activity? Come visit the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad Open House on Saturday, May 4th, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Get a hands on tour of our ambulances and station, learn about first aid and CPR, enjoy food and refreshments as you play games. Enter to win one of several gift cards or other prizes being raffled every half hour! Parking is in the gravel lot next to the skate park. The Open House is free and will be held rain or shine. Join the members of Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad as they celebrate Emergency Medical Services Week. Stop by for a fun filled interactive day! Activities include: Bounce House, Touch-A-Truck, adult and kid safety presentations, ambulance tours and rides, pose for a picture with Paramedic Panda, learn hands only CPR, practice calling 9-1-1, learn hands-CPR, and how to “Stop the Bleed.” For more information visit www.sterlingrescue.org

Come celebrate Purcellville Public Safety Day and Emergency Medical Services Week. Check out ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars. The AirCare 3 helicopter and WINC.FM is expected to join us. Join the members of Ashburn Volunteer Fire-Rescue May 19th for their annual Spring Open House! There will be lots of fun activities and demonstrations enjoyable for all ages, parents included! Kids can practice calling 9-1-1, learn about water safety, and test their first aid skills at the “Booboo Station.” Watch our volunteers perform physical agility tests, respond to a staged medical emergency, and rescue a victim from a simulated car accident with the “jaws of life.” Bring the whole family out for a day celebrating community, safety, and fun! Round Hill Volunteer Fire and Rescue are proud to take part of Round Hill Hometown Festival Days on Saturday, May 25th. The members will open their doors to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a fun filled day of interactive activities for the entire family and food (selling fresh BBQ!). Come meet Sparky the Fire Dog, dress up as a junior EMT or Firefighter, practice calling 9-1-1. Live demonstrations will be happening throughout the event. The members try to highlight local non-profit and community groups at the event to give face time with the public. At last count, they have seven group participating.
