Fire Marshal Investigating Two-Alarm House Fire in Ashburn

NEWSFLASH LCFR News - Alerts

The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office remains on scene of a two alarm house fire that destroyed two homes and damaged two more.

At 3:24 a.m. the Loudoun County Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a house fire at 20238 Millstead Drive in Ashburn. Fire and rescue crews from Ashburn, Sterling Park, Kincora, Cascades, Broadlands, Lansdowne, Leesburg and Fairfax County responded along with numerous command and safety officers. While firefighters were enroute to the incident, ECC dispatchers advised callers were now reporting multiple homes were on fire.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they found two, neighboring, single family homes with significant fire coming from the second floor and extending through the roof. The fire was quickly spreading to the homes to either side of the two involved structures. A second alarm and a rapid intervention task force were immediately requested bringing additional units to assist with firefighting operations.

Firefighters quickly searched for occupants and initiated an aggressive fire attack on the two fully involved homes from the exterior using large hoselines and ladder truck operations. Crews quickly worked to protect the other two homes and stop the fire from spreading. Once the fires were extinguished, firefighters remained on the scene putting out hot spots and supporting the Fire Marshal’s Office with their investigation.

The home where the fire began was unoccupied at the time of the incident and the residents of the other three homes affected were out of the area. The Fire Marshal’s Office is currently on scene working to determine a cause and an estimate of damages. There was one firefighter transported to a local hospital for a minor burn injury and no civilian injuries.
