Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Nicole Wittmann, Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Gigi Lawless, and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jason Faw were honored this morning by the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center (CAC) for their outstanding efforts in the prosecution of cases that involve child victims.
The Loudoun CAC is a partnership between various agencies in the county that provides support to children who are victims of abuse and neglect. Children are referred to the center by law enforcement. The center's mission is to minimize the trauma that these children experience by limiting the number of interviews they have to go through, setting up specialized medical treatment and facilitating communication between the agencies that are investigating, prosecuting and supporting the children.
Since the Loudoun CAC opened in December 2008, they have provided services to approximately 600 children and over 600 non-offending caregivers.
Funding for the Loudoun CAC is provided by Virginia Department of Social Services, National Children's Alliance and Family and Children's Trust Fund of Virginia, Loudoun County, INOVA Loudoun Foundation, and through various other public and private donations.
