Courthouse Construction to Begin April 6; Will Impact Parking

Posted on March 17, 2020 at 1:35 PM by Heidi Kellum

Construction on the new Loudoun County District Courthouse in downtown Leesburg is scheduled to begin Monday, April 6, 2020. As a result, there will be changes to the current parking areas utilized by those who work and do business at the courthouse.

The last day that parking will be available in the Church Street Lot and Semones Lot is Friday, April 3, 2020. Those lots will close to be used for the staging of equipment and the construction of the new building. Beginning on Monday, April 6, 2020, all parking for the courthouse will be directed to the Pennington Garage and Pennington Lot, which are located approximately two blocks away off of Church Street, NE in Leesburg.

A shuttle service from the Pennington Garage and Pennington Lot to the courthouse will begin April 6. It will run approximately every ten minutes, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. A walking path will also be available during the construction period, which is estimated to be about 2.5 years.

The Courts Complex Expansion project includes the design and construction of a new 92,000-square-foot courthouse and renovation of existing courts facilities. The project has also created new parking facilities, such as the Pennington Garage, which has more than 700 parking spaces.
