Construction Underway for Waterford Mill Restoration Project

Posted on February 1, 2023 at 9:45 AM by Heidi Kellum

Construction is underway for the Waterford Mill Restoration Project in the Village of Waterford, Va. Loudoun County’s construction project to stabilize and restore the historic mill began in October with staging and soil control. In the last several weeks, crews deconstructed and removed the mill’s framing for repairs, removed flooring on the first floor, and removed the water wheel and axle. Work to install support bracing and excavate the basement floor and wheel pit has begun.

This project provides for the structural stabilization of the Waterford Mill and the addition of accessibility features to allow the use of the mill for educational and cultural enrichment programs. Construction is estimated to be complete in summer 2023.
