Utilities Relocation Activities for Waxpool Road Intersection Project Set for Summer 2023 Completion

Posted on June 9, 2023 at 10:50 AM by Heidi Kellum

The utilities relocation phase for the Waxpool Road at the Pacific Boulevard/Broderick Drive Intersection project is now set for completion in summer 2023. This project provides for the design, ROW acquisition and construction of intersection improvements and turn lanes at Waxpool Road (Route 625) and Pacific Boulevard and Broderick Drive. The completion of the utility relocation phase is taking longer than expected due to the discovery of unmarked utilities, general labor shortages, and coordination of a multitude of utility projects within the Waxpool Road area.

The procurement of a contractor to construct the improvements is estimated to begin in summer 2023, prior to the completion of the utility relocation phase. Construction is currently scheduled to begin in fall 2023. More information about Loudoun County Capital Project phases is provided at loudoun.gov/capitalprojects.

In addition to the construction of intersection improvements and turn lanes at Waxpool Road (Route 625) and Pacific Boulevard and Broderick Drive, the project scope includes new turn lanes at Pacific Boulevard from Columbia Place, AOL Drive and Broderick Drive. It also includes modifications to allow right turns on a red signal on Pacific Boulevard at Waxpool Road, traffic signal modifications and improvements to the pedestrian network along Pacific Boulevard south of Waxpool Road. The project is currently estimated for substantial completion in fall 2025.
