Ashburn Recreation and Community Center Building Takes Shape

Posted on June 23, 2023 at 9:36 AM by Heidi Kellum

The new Ashburn Recreation and Community Center, currently under construction off of Broadland’s Boulevard in Ashburn, is taking shape. Crews are completing the remaining steel works on all areas of the building, which now features two floors and a roof line. Work to rough-in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems throughout is underway.

In addition to progress on the community center side of the building, construction on the competition pool has also begun. Excavation for the pool has been completed and crews are currently preparing to pour the concrete floor and sides.

This project is in the construction phase, currently on schedule for completion in summer 2025. When construction is substantially complete, the facility will be turned over to the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) for programming. More information about Loudoun County Capital Projects and phases is provided at loudoun.gov/capitalprojects.

The Ashburn Recreation and Community Center project is a 117,000-square-foot recreation and community center off of Broadlands Boulevard, west of the intersection with Claiborne Parkway. The two-story facility will feature a 50-meter competition pool, leisure pool, spa, full-size gymnasium, soft sensory playroom, multipurpose room with a catering and teaching kitchen, classrooms, offices and meeting spaces.

Additional features include a multi-use trail around the property, a large courtyard with seating, a splash play area and playground equipment.
