Change to Applying for Trade Permit Sub-Records in LandMARC

Posted on March 11, 2024 at 4:13 PM by Emily Watkins

Applicants can now apply for trade permit sub-records as soon as the parent building permit is applied for.

Once the building permit application is submitted, the apply button will appear for trade permits under the Sub-Records tab. Trade contractors must apply for trade permits under the parent building permit. To find the parent building permit, use the Search tool to search by permit number, address, or parcel number.

This change is intended to consolidate the review process and create efficiencies for both customers and staff.

If you have already submitted a standalone sub-record for an existing building permit, do not reapply. The records will be linked by Building and Development staff. Reapplying will create additional workload and slow down the review process.

To remain compliant with building code, contractors should be aware that they should only perform work on permits that have been issued, regardless of order. Should a trade permit be issued prior to the parent building permit, contractors must not assume that they can begin work on the structure associated with the parent building permit.

Building and Development continues to work on the backlog of permits in the system and currently anticipates returning to normal processing times by mid-April. Customers can check permit processing updates online and are encouraged to use the permit status inquiry form to request additional status details about specific permits.
