Stream Restoration Project Making Headway; Pedestrians, Bicyclists Should Follow Detour

Posted on March 19, 2024 at 4:21 PM by Nancy McCormick

As work continues on the River Bend Stream and Outfall Restoration project, area residents should be aware that there will be increased construction traffic along Algonkian Parkway March 25 - March 29, 2024, as the contractor removes debris from the project site. Drivers should exercise increased awareness in this area and pay attention to traffic flaggers as needed. Additionally, pedestrians and bicyclists should follow the detour signs and cross Algonkian Parkway at the traffic intersections.

Meanwhile, work continues on the project, with nearly 10 percent of the work completed and considerable progress made across the entire project site. Crews have cleared the project area, meaning work can continue through the Northern Long-Eared Bat roosting season. No trees will be cut during the typical roosting window of April 1 through November 14.

More information about the project, including photos of recent progress, may be found online at loudoun.gov/RiverBendStreamRestoration
