Loudoun County Update
- Two Loudoun Courts Reopening on Limited Basis Monday, May 18: Beginning Monday, May 18, 2020, the Loudoun County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court and General District Court will resume hearing non-emergency matters in person. The two Loudoun courts are reopening on a limited basis to handle cases that have been continued as well as new cases coming into the court system. The dockets were limited only to emergency cases over the past weeks, which has resulted in a growing backlog in the courts. Read the news release.
- County Postpones Summer Registration: The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) will forego a printed summer activity guide and postpone registration for summer activities. Senior and general registration, previously scheduled May 20 and May 21, 2020, are postponed while centers remain closed and programs canceled in response to the pandemic. Read the news release.
- Loudoun Election Officials Issue Reminders to Voters in May 19 Elections: Loudoun County election officials have issued some reminders to voters ahead of the Tuesday, May 19, 2020, elections in the towns of Hamilton and Round Hill. Read the news release for details on absentee voting and in-person voting for these elections.
- A reminder that the municipal elections in the towns of Lovettsville, Middleburg and Purcellville have been moved to Thursday, June 4, 2020. Absentee voting is encouraged. The deadline for voters in these three towns to request a ballot by mail in Thursday, May 28, 2020.
- Reopening Loudoun County: Virginia Governor Ralph Northam issued Executive Order 62 on May 12, 2020, which delayed localities in Northern Virginia from entering Phase One of the "Forward Virginia" plan. The plan is a three-phase plan to "reopen" the state by gradually easing the restrictions that have been placed on businesses, places of worship, and public facilities in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. Loudoun will remain in Phase Zero until May 28, 2020. Visit loudoun.gov/reopening to learn more about metrics and guidance for moving into Phase One.
