Last month, preliminary bridge plans and traffic volume justifications for the Northstar Boulevard - Shreveport Drive to Route 50 project were submitted to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for review. 60% design plans are expected to be submitted to VDOT and Loudoun County Building and Development (B&D) for review at the end of March 2021.
Field investigation work is ongoing, including land survey/mapping, utility designations and geotechnical investigations.
This project will design and construct a new four-lane, median divided segment of Northstar Boulevard from Shreveport Drive to U.S. Route 50. The scope includes a 10-foot-wide shared use path on both sides of the roadway, a traffic signal at Route 50 and the realignment of a portion of Arcola Mills Drive, formerly known as Evergreen Mills Road.
The project is currently estimated for completion in mid-2024.
