- As a result of the county’s formal request requesting the reconsideration of the Letter of Map Agreement (LOMA) determination, staff from the Department of Building and Development and representatives from Wood PLC met with a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) contractor regarding next steps.
- Based on those preliminary meetings, the county expects the following process will be taking place:
- The Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) will need to be updated.
- The county expects to receive two options for the FIRM updates by the end of April.
- Following a review of those options, the process of updating the FIRM is expected to be initiated shortly thereafter.
- A public comment/appeal period will be included in the FIRM update process, allowing the county the opportunity to review the information and ensure it aligns with the Wood data.
- A new LOMA determination can be processed, based on that information, prior to the FIRM update.
